After the success of Didn't I Tell You Not To Dig - EP (2014) and Fever Calls Late - EP (2015), HYLA are set to release their much anticipated debut album OSAKA on September 15 via LXVI / Rocket Distribution.
Produced by Sam Ford (Pond, Peter Bibby), OSAKA has been almost three years in the making; written by singer/songwriter Alex Hayes whilst he lived in Japan in 2015/16.
Of the release, Alex said "I had a lot of down-time to work on songs & found my new surroundings really inspiring. It's an awesome feeling to finally be able to release this record"
Pulling influences from dream pop, garage and shoegaze, Hyla is a project formed by Alex Hayes who has played and toured extensively in Perth bands such as Abbe May and The Silents over the last decade.
HYLA is an outfit reminiscent of shoegaze classics My Bloody Valentine, the Verve and Jesus and Mary Chain, with a taste of newer garage rock influences such as Ty Segall and BRMC.
The result is a swirl of fuzzed out guitars, layered melodic vocals, and a sound that is at once fresh and nostalgic.
The bands latest single 'Swam Out' has been well received around Australia and overseas and is currently receiving Triple j play.
