Voliminal: Inside the Nine' is a 2DVD set housed in a magnificent 6 panel digi pack. M. Shawn Crahan offered the following thoughts, 'I had to go through 300 videotapes. I saw a lot of me, and I'll tell you I didn't like what I saw. It's going to end up changing my life."
This revelation, Crahan said, came about by revisiting internal arguments captured on film. As a result, he says he's found himself re-energized about being in the band.
The special double-disc package takes the viewer on a several-hour journey into the world of SLIPKNOT as the band recently circled the globe in support of the multi-platinum album "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)". Far from your usual tour film, "Voliminal: Inside the Nine" is more of an art piece ? while fans are taken in the studio, on stage, backstage, on their tour bus and everywhere in between as they experience the energy of a band literally living, breathing and fighting for the music they created, none of it unfolds in ways you'd expect.
"I don't really like that term I'm calling it more of a movie than I am a DVD," explains Crahan, who conceived and directed the two-disc set. "You're talking three-and-a-half years in the making. There were over 300 videotapes at 60 minutes apiece to analyze, and I watched every single one of them. There's, like, 325 edits in the thing, and each one of them are precisely put in for an exact reason. So at the end of that, I didn't turn in a DVD, y'know? I turned in a movie, period. A film."
Disc 1: Voliminal (90 minute film by M Shawn Crahan)
Disc 2: Disc 2 features three main elements: live footage, music videos and interviews with each member of the band. The live shows were captured at various venues around the world and show Slipknot in unique and somewhat unconventional settings. Everything from outdoor and daytime shows all the way to television award-show performances are included as are the celebrated music videos for "Duality", "Vermilion," "Before I Forget," "The Nameless," and the controversial video for "Vermilion 2," which was never officially released. Additionally, for the first time ever, fans get an up-close look at the band's "Death Masks" used onstage during this tour.
