In 1993, Taake mastermind Hoest formed the band under the name Thule, releasing two demos; 'Der Vinterstormene Raste' in 1993 and 1994's 'Omfavnet Av Svarte Vinger', Shortly afterwards, Thule became Taake (meaning 'Fog' in English), a name which better reflected the band's music and the area where Hoest was from; the mountains of Bergen, Norway, The second album from Taake, 'Over Bjoergvin Graater Himmerik (Heaven Cries over Bjoergvin)', was released in 2002, As with the 1999 debut, 'Nattestid...', songs were sung in old Norwegian, The album was again recorded at Grieghallen Studios (Immortal, Mayhem, Gorgoroth) with Pytten, with Hoest bringing in a full band for the recording: C, Corax on Guitars, Keridwen on bass, and Mutt (Gaahlskagg, Trelldom) on drums.
